Hi,
This is the second time that I'm posting this message, so I can get some new responses, because I really need to get this fixed:
I just bought a lot of computer parts so I can build a system, but when I put them all together it didn't work. I knew there was something wrong with the video card, because I borrowed another video card from my uncle's computer and my system worked. The other video card was a Nvidia TNT2. I know the Geforce 4 video card isn't physically damaged because I tried it out on my uncle's computer and it worked fine. When I put the Geforce4 in my computer, the computer turns on but nothing is displayed on the monitor. It's like turning the computer on with the monitor off. There are a few beeps after I turn it on, but it only beeps like once or twice. I already tried to update the bios.
Here's my system specs if it helps:Amd XP 1800 cpu
Abit KR7A motherboard(without RAID)with AGP 2x/4x
VisionTek Geforce 4 MX420 video card
350w power supplyIf I can't fix it, then I'll have to buy a new video card. Any suggestions for a new video card that your pretty sure it's compatible with my system?
Thanks,
Eric

How is your BIOS configured for AGP? I know you can’t check with your display adapter but you might borrow that other display adapter and see.
I’ve never been able to download the manual for that MOBO from ABIT but there may be an AGP setting that is holding up the show.

i would say flash the bios on the card but it wont work so u cant :( even without doing that it sould still work and nothing comes to mind how to fix it but anyways get a new video card that one sux (sorry) dont think cuz its a gf4 its fast! its a MX (MX=POS) get a ti... the best bang for the buck would prolly be a gf3 ti sould be around 120$ or so
if u dont have that much to spend get a gf2 ti thats even faster then the gf4 MX and u can get one for 99$

Same thing happend to me with my Geforce 4 4600ti. On closer inspection of the card, I found one of the chips was burnt out. It wouldnt work on my pc, but worked fine on another machine. The card had a 2 year warranty, so I got it exchanged.
Could you not get yours exchanged?

Before buying a new card i would try to reset the bios to default...just reset the cmos or remove the cmos battery for a few seconds... Then try to boot up....I had the same problem with mine.. clearing the cmos fixed it.. Just remember to set you cpu parameters back... hope this helps...

That Video Card is Junk even the GF2 MX 400 i have sitting right here is better as that GF4 doesnt have special features, was just a junk card put out to make some money from the poor people who dont know nothing about computers, and want a GF4 thinking its "OH YEAH SO FAST" Try doing what one of those guys said, Set up the bios for AGP Disable Onboard video etc, if that board has it, anyways im out ............want a GF2 MX 400?
