I went to the store to buy a new Graphic card so i could Have to screens to work off of instead of one. so i went and thought I don't really need the top of the line brand expensive since im only using it for when im programming or doing work thats nice to have 2 screens. So i went with a BFG Tech Graphic card Nvidia Geforce 6200 OC PCI card. Installed it exactly how instructions said and got it installed. When using it i noticed Dang it It frozes several times and i thought i would check CPU and its at 100% no not jumps STAYS 100% I know it has to do with this card as it was fine before i put it in. did nothing else. I known the Geforce cards to be Very good cards and BFG to be a good brand I only have 1gb of ram in this machine so will it drop as i put in 3 more gb? or did i just waste my money that i was tight on and can't return? lucky for me i have a laptop that runs fine to do my work til i get this running proper again!

1. Why did you buy a PCI card...doesn't your board have an AGP or PCI-e slot?

2. What type of video did you have before this card? onboard? If it was, did you disable it in the BIOS & uninstall the drivers?

3. what process is using the CPU?

4. this is just out of curiousity...how much did you pay for the 6200 & why can't you return it?

You paid too much for a crappy card. Walmart or BestBuy? My money's on Walmart. So why can't you return it?

I'm gonna take a guess that your board has a PCI-e slot. Have a look at this deal:

I never mentioned anything about gaming...that wasn't my point at all. You paid way too much for a card that uses the outdated PCI bus. Not only does the PCI bus run at just 33MHz, but it has to share the bus with other devices. I don't know if your motherboard supports AGP or PCI-e, but AGP runs at 66MHz & PCI-e x16 bus runs at 100Mhz & both are dedicated to graphics. Why use a slower shared bus when you can use a much faster dedicated bus?

You didn't answer WHY you can't take the card back but I suggest you return it & buy a card that uses the appropriate dedicated graphics bus supported by your board. The PCI-e card I linked to is only $20 after rebate & it's a damn good card, not to mention more modern than the 6200. If you don't want deal with the rebate hassle, there are other alternatives in the same price range:

Radeon X700 256MB - $19

Radeon X550 256MB 128-bit - $20

Radeon X1650 256MB 64-bit - $25
