Hello! I am in need of advice on cooling my SFF case(need to overclock more!), and am struggling to do so. My Antec ARIA case w/ amd 3200+, Radeon 9800 XT runs at 50-52 C. Any ideas on heatsinks, etc that would cool my cpu better, or any certain place to put an external fan. . . . hits 58 when ripping DVDS. . . .

You could start by telling us how many fans you have now & how they're arranged. Does your PSU have 2 fans or one? What's your room temp & your system temp? The difference between the 2 is usually a fair indicator of how good your cooling setup is. If the system temp is considerably higher than room temp, your case cooling is inadequate or poorly configured. Let us know...

I just had a look at that case...I didn't realize the PSUs are designed for the case like that. It doesn't look like you have a lot of options unless you butch some holes in it or get some slot fans. I would say SFF cases aren't very "overclocker friendly"

If you look at the last page of this review, you'll see some temps listed. They max out in the 60s under full load, so the temps you're seeing are probably "typical"

You did say you are already overclocking the 3200+, what speed are you @, a little over 2.2Ghz?

58°C at load is not necessarily bad, for one your CPU is not going to buckle @ that temp, also are you using any thermal grease in-between the CPU and the heatsink?

Yeah - Im using the stock heatsink/fan w/ stock thermal pad. I have considered a slot fan, but the fact that my radeom 9800 pretty much separates the case into two portions - the PCI bus side and the proc side. My wiring is the best its gonna get . . . would an extra fan blowing down on my CPU help?

I used to have some extreme heat issues with my computor. Instead of adding extra heatsinks and fans I did the simplest of all. I move my workstation around. In the summer I place my CPU within 3 feet of the Air Conditioning vent, and during the winter I move it close to a window that I can leave open about a quarter inch.

I have a friend who also suffered from over heating, he drilled 3/16th inch holes in two circluar designs in his outter casing to cause a draft, later he installed an out blowning internal fan to increase the draft.
