Hi, i just bought some new computer parts to build a new computer and i am so confused. I bought an AMD athlon XP 2200+ CPU, i don't know what the core is because i havn't opened the box yet, i got a Gigabyte GA-7DXE motherboard and 512MB PC2700 memory. When i got home i read the instruction booklet to the motherboard and it said that it will only support PC2100 DDR and that the processer can have a 1.4GHz or higher CPU put in it, so will the board support my CPU?
I really need some help here, i want to know if my CPU will work with this computer and if the DDR will work or not. I don't think it would seeing as it is PC2700 and the board only supports PC2100...
Thanks Daniel
P.S. I need to know very quikly about what i can do, and does anyone know what video cards will work with this board?

The CPU should work, I think its 1.8 ghz, is that right? For the graphics card, the board has an agp slot, which is 4x on that board I believe. So you can use any video card that's agp, it will take advantage of 4x only though. So something maybe like a cheap geforce 4 mx card would probably work well with your set up. The ram, I'm not sure about. Even if it did work, I would return it and get the 2100 because it would run at that speed anyway. So save the money and swap the ram.

The pc2700 will work and just clock down to the speed of pc2100 ram. Unless your very unlucky and the mobo rejects the ram which is unlikly but if it did the worst thing that will happen is a post error or boot failure but no harm would actuly be done to the components as the 2 speeds of ram work on the same voltage. so if you can't exchange it just use it, it will be fine.
