OS: Windows XP
CPU/Ram: AMD64 @ 2,8GHz / 2GB
Model/Manufacturer: self-build
Comment:
Hi,

I'm planning on buying a AMD X2 4400+ in near future, cause i can get it really cheap...

Now, i've never owned a dual core before so i have a few questions about it:

Will i need to reinstall windows if i put in the dual core?
Does windows require some dual core software?
How does the overclocking for dual cores work? same as the single cores? and when i overclock it to 2,4GHz it's actually as fast as a 4800+, right?
What speed can i expect to hit with this Tolede core?

Thanks in Advance.

Remember that the dual core only makes a performance difference if you can take advantage of it...that is, multi-tasking or running apps that are optimized for it. Otherwise, the X2 4400+ has performance similar to the 3700+ San Diego.

OK....

1. you don't have to reinstall Windows

2. it doesn't require any special software

3. overclocking is the same as single core

4. when overclocked to 2.4GHz, it's as fast (or slightly faster) than an X2 4800+...it depends on the rest of your BIOS settings

Ok thanks :)

I do have one more question; AMD64's single cores' multipliers are upper-locked.. How's this with the X2 series..?
