i was reading an article similar to this, i simply want to play some games(i.e Civ or even CSS) without having that horrible choppiness you get with a celeron processor, is this possible or just too much to ask for?

P4M900 is a Chipset not a Model/Manufacturer. Celeron is a CPU made for the last ten years in various guises.

You really need to provide the correct information if you want help as we do not have crystal balls....

First off use http://www,hwinfo.com to identify the current motherboard and processor.

Celerons generally aren't great CPUs but if you're using the onboard graphics, it doesn't matter which CPU you have...the VIA Chrome9 IGP sucks.

I'm guessing your board is the Biostar P4M900-M4?

http://www.biostar-usa.com/mbdetail...

The board has a PCI-e x16 slot so if you're using the onbaord, invest in a video card rather than a CPU.

You can't beat this Radeon 2600XT for $20:

You didn't necessarily post the wrong info...you just didn't post enough. It would help to know which speed Celeron you have but if you're using the motherboard's built-in video, that's why your gaming sucks. You need a *real* video card.

My thoughts exactly...you can't go wrong for $20.

"are there any other suggestions?"

You could try tweaking the BIOS for best performance but I can't make any recommendations without knowing the CPU, board & RAM. If you don't know the specs, try CPUZ:

Yes, but what are they??

"i know ram is still an option. i have two 1gig sticks atm"

What option would that be? Your board only supports a max of 2GB.

Here's your board:

Your CPU is the Celeron D 347 Cedar Mill & they overclock like mad. Need to know what speed RAM you have.
