I have an asus PN5-D motherboard with a quad core 2.4 intel. The memory is ocz extreme. I have overclocked several amd chips in the past but can't get this to overclock AT ALL. There seems to be a lot more option in the bios than I'm used to. There is voltage options for NB SB Mem and CPU. Also I can link or unlink the memory. Is there a guide? I've seen that these chips are very overclockable and would like to step it up some. Thanks.

It *should* be fairly simple, but do your overclocking manually, do not use AI overclocking.

Just raise the CPU frequency from 266MHz (1066MHz FSB) to 333MHz (1333MHz FSB) & make sure the RAM runs in sync @ 333MHz (667MHz DDR). Lock the PCI-e bus at 100MHz & disable all Spread Spectrum settings. You *may* have to throw a little more voltage at the CPU, but many people get the Q6600 up to 3.0GHz at the default voltage.

I can't get it 1 point over 1066 without freeze up on boot or a blue screen.
Is there something I'm missing or possibly just a chip that won't overclock?

Did you lower the RAM speed to match the CPU 1st? Did you set the PCI-e at 100MHz?

Double check the voltage your RAM should be running at. Look at the packaging (if you have it), the label on the RAM or check the OCZ website. Your board might be defaulting to 1.8v & your RAM may require 2.1v or 2.2v.

I have my q6600 clocked up to 4.0 ghz with manual settings, but you have to have the GO stepping to be able to do any real overclocking. You can see if yours will go up to 3.0 GHZ. You have to set CPU freq to 333 manually, the memory freq has been know to work on auto but better manual at 667 and you need to set the cpu multiplier manually to 9.
The voltage on the cpu will work with being on auto for 3.0 ghz but the memory setting will have to be manually set with you RAM specs. The CPU muliplier is in the advance section in bios while everything else is in the tweakers section. You can keep memory linked.
