My mom has a Gateway Solo 9500 laptop and she says (which I can agree to) that the fan is really loud (just about as loud as my 7200RPM fan, possibly louder). She claims that it was never so loud when she bought it. We do realize that ME sucks, by the way. I already went into the BIOS and changed the Cooling from Performance to Silence and it didn't work.

Could be the bearing on the fan gone bad.

Check the fan for dust buildup. If you want to get Me working properly we can help with that too.
