The irony of it all is the fact that these mainstream pc companies for the longest time, condemned overclocking on their systems and now they are starting to condone it.

I guess Gateway is has realized when you allow more flexibility in your products you will draw in more people to your products.

I applaud Gateway for taking the first steps in allowing users to overclock on their systems. Now the question is how many other mainstream pc companies will catch on to this concept. I guess time will tell in how well Gateway sells those two types of overclocking pc’s.

As the link suggests, details of how this overclock is implemented and how much overclock there is remains undisclosed at the present time, so I'm still ambivalent about the whole process.

But I agree it is a departure from the norm for a VAR to publicly adopt overclocking.

That's very interesting. I think Dell's also been offering overclocked XPS systems as well. I'm not sure if they still are.
