A Gateway E 4200 freezes at boot logo, showing the word "Gateway" and no keyboard response. It was unable to enter BIOS setup. Solution: change keyboard for other manufacturer. The PS/2 keyboards maded by DTK do not work with this Gateway computer. The PC works fine with no-brand PS/2 keyboard.
Another tip: while installing XP, the installation freezes at 60% copying files. We need to open the case and cooling the CPU with a large fan during installation. Then, the PC works OK.
Hope this help someone, I was spend many hours trying to fix this problem. Changing keyboard! :-)

Had a problem like this with a gateway gt4016 series the problem was the secondary hard drive the person had in his pc was causing the freeze. so once i took it out it booted right up again. Later test showed the secondary hard drive was going bad with many dameged sectors.
