Comment:
I purchased a Gigabyte GA-7N400E board not too long ago and have not been able to get the FSB 400 setting to work despite upgrading BIOS to the F10 update at gig's website.
Comp stats are GA-7N400E Barton Core 2600 XP Transcend 256 2700 DDR (NOT CLOCKED) Seagate 20 gig drive 7200 rpm Liteon DVD Drive and Burner Combo
It doesnt want to run with FSB set to 200 and the clk swt etc are all set to auto (11 for the multiplier). For now its set to 166. I've also noticed while boot up when the FSB is set at 400 the computer reports my 2600 as a 2300?

barton 2600+ is a 333mhz fsb chip, your not running anything at 400fsb with that pc2700 ram as its only rated at 333mhz, leave it well alone

Not to mention your multiplier is locked at 11.5x...changing it will have no effect

ya you will need to get some 3200 ram to be able to bump your fsb up to 200.. your chip should be able to take it

get some pc3500 and you will be able to go to 400 and beyond also set your DRAM to cpu ratio as 1:1 or 3:3 or 6:6 so your cpu fsb matches your ram speed
Summary: First off, you have to have a motherboard that would support the 400mhz fsb. If you get a cpu that has a 400mhz fsb and is not backwards compatible (e.g. does not support 400 and 333) then the compon...
