Comment:

i purchased this machine 4 years ago and just noticed that the FSB jumpers on the mobo are set to 100Mhz.

my mobo is an elite K7VZA with an athlon900 thunderbird.

as far as i'm aware this cpu can run at 100/133Mhz.......so is there any reason my FSB cant be set at 133Mhz??

thanx for help.

Your FSB will only run at 133MHZ if you have either PC2100 Ram or PC133 Ram.
PC2100 runs at 133MHZx2 (double data rate) and PC 133 runs at 133MHZ.

Your CPU is designed to run at 9.0 x 100MHz, there was no 133MHz FSB version of the Athlon 900 T-bird. If the multiplier is unlocked, no problem, just set it to 7.0x & the FSB to 133MHz & you'll be running at 933MHz. But if the multiplier is locked, you'd be overclocking it to 1200MHz & chances are, you'd need a voltage increase to be able to run at that speed.

Does your board even support 133MHz?

You board is not overclock friendly and thus you can't get much out of it, your FSB bus option only allows 100MHz to 112MHz (100Mhz, 102Mhz, 104Mhz,106Mhz, 107Mhz, 108Mhz, 109Mhz, 110Mhz, 111Mhz, and 112Mhz) and not being able to do that at 1Mhz increment even makes things worse.

You also do not have the ability to change the clock multiplier or the Vcore, the only advantage if I can even use that word is you don't need to worry about no AGP/PCI Lock since the max speed is 112Mhz.

Goodluck !!!

Do not type anything in this space.
