Hi

I was looking for some advice. Last night (on my home computer) I tried changing my heatsink and fan on my Athlon 64 2800 754 socket processor.

Long story short I've installed the new Arctic Cooling model and tried turning on the PC and nothing happens. The PSU comes on when I press the power switch but nothing comes up on screen. Also the only way to turn it off is by pulling the plug as the power switch won't turn it off.

I think the problem may be when I was uninstalling the stock cooler I inadverntently pulled the processor off the motherboard. As mentioned in the AMD documents do you think this has damaged the CPU beyond repair or could it be a problem with the motherboard? Both were obviously working before.

Also does anyone know any things I could try to get it working?

Thanks in advance

The first thing I would do is check for bent cpu pins.Have you already read the information at this site?http://forums.amd.com/index.php?showtopic=22705

I've done that before when changeing HSF. You gotta twist them a bit and not just pull. Anyways, mine was fine. I'd just check and make sure everything is seated properly. You may have bumped something.

Thanks for the responses. I couldn't see any bent pins and I've tried reseating it and all other components a few times. I'm just awaiting delivery of some arctic silver and I will then try taking everything out and building the basic components out of the case.

Wish me luck!!

Cheers again.
