I got a biostar socket A motherboard from someone that won't post. Everything powers up but under no circumstances does a screen ever appear. I've tried the onboard video, inserted known good AGP cards, hell i've even tried pci cards. I've also tried resetting the bios, removing the bios battery and resetting, removing the bios battery and shorting across it's terminals in case any caps weren't fully blead off, etc.

Lights light up, fan's spin, hard drive spins, cd rom's open & close etc. Tested with different power supplies, i've taken out the cpu and it definately works in another computer i have, ram works fine so it has to be the motherboard.

My only thought left is the bios must have gotten corrupt or something. Is there any possible way to flash it? Can I make a bootable floppy that will autoexecute a bios update?

I have bios update & flash utility downloaded but as per their instructions it would be a nightmare to try and do it blindly!

Any suggestions besides junk it? I've already thought of that one.

If not I seen a ECS N2U400-A socket A motherboard with nforce 2 chipset at a reasonable price "under $40" as a last resort.

You can try a Bootblock BIOS flash.

No good? A hot swap BIOS flash has saved my bacon a few times. Maybe you have another motherboard you can use to flash the BIOS chip? If it has a different chipset, you may not be able to do it with Awardflash. Uniflash can help you get past that obstacle.
You can flash just about anything with Uniflash.

IMPORTANT! If you have the older style long BIOS chip, you must replace it in the socket the same way it came out. There is a notch in the socket, and a small semi circular indentation in one end of the chip. These must be aligned, or the chip will fry the instant you power it up. Of course, this only applies to doing a hot swap on a motherboard with the older style chip. I think the newer style are keyed so you can only put them the right way.
