Hello I have an emachine ET1161-07 with an AMD Athlon Dual Core 4050e (2.1GHz) and I wanted to know if it were possible to switch up to a AMD Athlon Dual Core 5050e (2.6GHz)? They both consume 45W and have a AM2 socket. Would the bios recognize the change and is there really any other requirement then installing and adding a little thermal grease?

What is it that you can't do with your system? What is it you expect to be able to do after the CPU upgrade? Maybe there's another upgrade that would make more sense...a video card perhaps?
