I would STRONGLY suggest reinstalling windows on top of your current setup. It shouldn't hurt anything and most of your custom settings will remain intact. Although, you may have to reinstall some of your software again too, if third party software settings are overriden by the new installations.

Your errors sound a lot like missing or corrupted files from the intial installation, an original (not SE) Win98 installation, or perhaps a chip issue. An improperly or too far overclocked chip may often run, but cause all sorts of kernel32 error messages. And on rare occassion, these messages also come up with memory issues.

checking the chip is the easiest - because a ot of times, all you have to do, is to slow it down a little in the bios, to make things improve. You could also try the factory fail safe option in your bios, to see if that will improve things.

Also, anytime that you install software, it's always a good idea to turn off your anti-virus program. On a upgraded hard drive, it's always a good idea to install everything BUT the anti-virus program, before loading the AV up. Most AV programs even say so in the manuals, and some of the better third party software gives you messages to that effect during installations. Hope this helps.

If you just installed WIN98SE and are getting these errors, rather than installing it over itself, take the time, reformat the partition, and do a fresh install.
