Hey. I have a 300W power supply, the reason i am questioning this, i have been experiencing a problem where my PC reboots itself.

Is 300W enough for the following:]

3GHZ P4
1.5GB OF RAM
6800 Nvidia
3, 4 color LED fans
200GB MAXTOR
80GB SEAGTE DRIVES

I dont think this issue is software related as i have just reformatted aswell.

Intel P4 3.00GHZ HT 800MHZ FSB NORTHWOOD 4EVER!
1.5 GB PC3200 DDR SDRAM
nVidia 6800LE Pipelines unlocked!!!
200GB 7200RPM SEAGATE BARRACUDA PATA
80 Barracuda GB SEAGATE

Nah 300w probably isnt enough to power this sytem as you have a Pentium 4 and a high end(ish) graphics card. With all those drives i would recommend a 400w power supply to keep the system happy.

Amperage on the +12v rail is critical to a trouble free system. If you have enough amperage, the wattage will take care of itself. 16A on the +12v is the minimum required these days, but 18A or more is recommended

Jam,

A question came up in my mind about amperage usage. My power supply says 34 amps on the 12 volt rail. If that is so, how could it be 34 amps when most home breakers in the panel are only 15 amps? Hm!

hehe!!!

Just thought I would ask.

TIA!

Ok i have just got a Q-tec 500W PSU, gold with a nice 120MM fan. I just had a look on the OLD psu and the Amps on the +12v Was only 13!!!!

I just checked the specs for this one and it is 18, so i guess im gonna get a more stable system eh.

That 34 amps is at 12 volts
At 120 volts that would be drawing only 3.3 amps
P=IE
P=Power in watts
I=Current in amps
E=Volts
