Well i was trying to flash my GF4 Mx440 bios and place there 550XGL bios, so I would have Quadro4 550XGL, but when i try to flash/write to my bios i get this error message:
ERROR: Supported EEPROM not found

What should i do to flash/write to my bios???
I have Manli GeForce 4 MX440 64MB DDR

Thanks in advance

Unless you found a site that says you can flash a 550xgl bios directly onto an mx440 with no mods, I thought from your previous post we determined that you need to make some physical changes to the mx440 before it would accept a 550xgl bios.

The error message is to protect you from flashing a bios onto a card that is not prepared to execute the new bios code.

I were at vrzone.com (or something like that), anyway, he sayz that if you move a resistor from R728 to R729 and add a 10kOhm resistor to R733, at next boot card would be Quadro4 550XGL instead of GeForce 4 MX440 (and windows will ask for Quadro drivers too). BUT there is a small problem, the highest resistor number (Rxxx) on my gf4 is R224 (i think)! there is no 728 and 729 resistors (nothing above R200!).

So what am I supposed to do?

I CAN force nvflash to write 550xgl bios, but i don't know if that would work, and if it doesnt, i can't get it to mx440 anymore, right?

P.S. i would like to write my original bios to floppy but eeprom override doesn't work on writing from card to floppy.

I'm going crazy!!!
Someone plz help!!!

Sounds like you have another version of the card. I'd leave it as it is!

BTW:
Is it really the same card from the same manufacturer ???

Manufacturer is MANLI (www.manli.com.hk) and card is GeForce 4 MX440 64MB DDR i'm 100% sure because it's written on the card itself.

I have this croatian magazine PC PLAY (i'm from Croatia), there was explenation how to make quadro4 (same explenation as on vrzone.com) but as i've said before, i don't have anything above R200 (or so).

Kevn said:
"You have to flash it with the XGL550 vga bios. Don't ask me where to get it.

Tou can turn a 9800pro into a FireGL X2 doing the same."

I have everything i need to flash my bios, but i don't want to fry my card or anything.

What is the worst that can happen?

If Kevn did not give you a link, he may have been speaking from knowledge that geforce and quadro cards can be modded back and forth, but not necessarily asserting that in your specific case a bios flash alone will do it. That may be true for the fx5900 but not the mx440.

The worst that can happen is that your card will be destroyed. The more likely thing that would happen is you would have to reflash the original bios using a pci vid card as your main card while the mx440 is in the agp slot. Its tough to totally wreck a vid card because you usually can flash its bios while using another card.

I'm gonna try flashing my bios to xgl550 but i have only one problem, i don't have original mx440 bios, so i don't know how am i supposed to reflash my card if anything goes wrong.

Can anyone tell me a link to mx440 bios?

johnoh is right..

I don't know all the details about doing this, but i do know it involves flashing it with the xgl550 bios..was just telling you what i know. If johnoh says you have to solder things listen to him..he knows what he's talking about more than i do.

But i think you can do the 9800pro/Fire gl x2 mod just by flashing it with the bios
