Will the Core 2 Duo E4300 work with a motherboard having PCI Express 2.0?

Your questions are starting to get annoying.

Of course it will!

And before you ask...yes, a PCI-e 1.0 card WILL work in a PCI-e 2.0 slot.

Thanks for answering and I would've asked the PCI-e question eventually. The reason I asked about the E4300 working with PCI-e 2.0 is I read an article written Feb. 2007 that seemed to imply it wouldn't work:
http://www.firingsquad.com/hardware...
Later this year we’ll also see the debut of Intel’s Bearlake family of chipsets. Bearlake is expected to support 1333MHz FSB operation, as well as PCI Express 2.0 and DDR3 memory.

So I was wondering since the new chips were expected to support 2.0 does this mean the older chips will not support it. Anyway, I bought one of these used for $60 and want to use it for a while and then move on to a quad core.

Of course older chips won't support it...it's not built into the hardware. But there is backwards compatibilty, so if you install a PCI-e 2.0 video card in an older board, it will simply run as PCI-e 1.0. Just like if you install an 8X AGP card in a 4X AGP board, it will run as 4X AGP.

I think you read that and thought that they meant processors, not chipsets. If your motherboard supports PCI-E 2.0 it dosent matter what processor you install, its still going to run with PCI-E 2.0.
