Comment: I wanted to build kick ass system.. SO.. I did.. took about 3months to get all parts and finally here... With many tries & errors, I learn something valuable lesson, "before you build a new system.. Make sure do plenty research" Here is my system info P4 3.2g HT 800mhz CPU Dfi lanparty pro 875 rev A. Ocz ddr dual channel PC3200 2gb(4x512) 256 MB NVIDIA fx 5900 ultra. 2 200gb western digital 8mb special edition. 1 73gb 15000rpm Seagate SCSI ultra 320. 1 145gb 10000rpm Seagate SCSI ultra 320. Lsi logic 22320-r ultra SCSI adapter. Well here is my problem with my dfi motherboard I try to overclock by raising CPU frequency, default was 200mhz x 16 multiplier and change up to 209.. if I go any higher system became unstable.. I do not understand.. this guys getting p4 2.6 @ 3.5g.. and I have p4 3.2g and only go up to 3.33ghz.. I am new to all this overclocking business... If you have similar system of mine please give me advice.. especially if you have Dfi Lanparty pro 875 W/ p4 3.2g HT 800mhz.. That is why I gave you most of my system detail for my computer... NOTE: for p4 new computer builders.. I bought dell sc400, comes with intel 875p chipset and this cpu p4 3.2g HT 800mhz FSB. remember... Dell's computer does not work with OCZ hi performance Ram.. Even though they say they support ddr 400mhz ram certain makes like Ocz ram will not work with intel mobo. And intel mobo is not let you overclock ... so being stupid, I had to buy new mobo.(lanparty) .. and even then new mobo. was fit in to stupid dell's case...WoW... so I had to buy another new case for this mobo.. wasted at least over $300 just being stupid.. I hope someone will learn from my mistake... Ff you want to buy hi speed ram first check with your mobo's company make sure they support these rams..

Reply: (edit)The real question is, why do you want to overclock? What do you do with the system? Isn't it fast enough?

Reply: (edit)1) Make sure you know how to reset your bios because at some point your machine may lock up and you can't get into bios without resetting it. 2) Go into bios, increase fsb by 5mhz, reboot. 3) Repeat step 2 until machine produces errors or freezes 4) Go to last stable fsb setting. That's your max oc at stock vcore 5) If you are daring, do steps 2-4 using a higher vcore. How much is up to you. 5% or 10% is safe, and you may not need any more than that to hit the cpu's max ghz. Post back with you results so we can see how it comes out.

Reply: (edit)Overclocking is an art form, it just doesn't happen, you need to understand exactly what you are doing, as well as all the different variables that contribute to the overclock. So to begin with, I need to know if you have attempted to increase the vcore at all? BTW...how much did you spend on this thing? Why go with SCSI, when SATA is even less CPU intensive and with a pair of WD Raptors in RAID 0, you would have almost twice the performance of your single 15K RPM Ultra320 HDD, at more than half the price? I'm not knocking SCSI, but you only need SCSI when you have a multitude of clients competing for bandwidth.

Reply: (edit)well u have a nice spec there, i think overclocking might overheat your computer because i'm into cooling and all the things u talked about produces alot of heat watch out your cpu might fry, just don't gove over board.

Reply: (edit)The key to overclock P4 HT 800 is the memory timing and ratio setting. 1) Turn PAT off if you have it. 2) PC3200 does not mean anything when overclock P4 HT 800. Some ram won't go higher than 460 which is so easy to hit. Set memory ratio down to 3:2 and the most relax timing 3.4.4.8. They can be adjusted after you get the highest FSB. 3) Check your CPU default voltage. P4 marking does not mean anything until you install the processor. You may have default voltage from 1.47 to 1.55. Higher voltage does not mean low overclocking in C1 stepping. It is safe to just set it to 1.675 Volt anyway. 4) Raise the FSB from 200 to 230 see what happens. Don't hook up all your hard drive until you get it going. My two P4 800 HT are running at over 1060 mhz FSB using IC7 and IS7 with 1.65 vcore.
