hey,
when i change the fsb in the bios on my new asus motherboard, it changes the cpu speed, however when i manually change the multiplier in the bios and then check it with wcpuid, the multiplier remains the same (15). the problem with this is i can get the cpu up to 2.4ghz, but the highest fsb i can get is 157.
i thought the fact that i was changing the multiplier in the bios would work. i have not unlocked this chip (amd 2400xp) anoyne know why this is happening??

You have 4 threads running now...all on the same topic...you should stick with just one!
I doubt your CPU is locked, I don't think I ever heard of a Tbred that was...although some boards don't allow lower multipliers than 12.5x with out a mod to the CPU. This was mentioned in another post by Jav. I don't know if this is your prob or not, but it's another possibility. Have you tried changing your multiplier to a lower setting but still above 12.5x? I know you said 10.0x doesn't work...what about 13.0x? If it does, try your FSB at 166mhz & multiplier at 13.0x for 2167mhz
If that doesn't work, I would suspect a problem with the mobo. Have you tried updating the BIOS?

post your cpu manufacturing week, which is written on the cpu itself. If its below 0338 you're unlocked.
This one is the 6th week of 2003 (0306 on second line)
