Can anyone tell me if one can disable a processor on dual processor machine?

I read somewhere a while ago that it could be done by changing the BIOS settings.

Not usally possable without a dummy CPU or a power regulator with every duel cpu mobo you get a dummy cpu and a power regulator the power regulator you probably have. To run 2 cpu's your mobo will have this already but unless you have a dummy cpu not possable mate sorry!

I run on an ASUS dual motherboard, and I can disable either of the processors through the BIOS.

Most Mobos don't have a Bios switch to diable one processor, however W2k and WNT4 have boot.ini switches which force it to use only one processor.

the switch is
/ONECPU

This option will have NT only enable one CPU of a multiprocessor system.
