Well. FINALLY, I got my new pc yesterday. After a clean install, and configing for an hour or so, it is all running nicely.

I thought I would test out the speed difference between it and my old 1 ghz athlon, and also my p2 233.

Well, I used a QTVR virtual tour creator.

My 233 took about 25 minutes to create on panorama.

My Athlon 1 ghz (200fsb) took a few minutes.

My new XP2000 with 512 DDR333 takes just under 30 seconds!

Its so fast, I can't even see what stage it is at, all the text just blurs on the status screen.

Mmmm.... gonna try some software video capture!

Just thought I would fire up that debate on the "need for more than 1ghz CPU again!

Kev tech dude! This thing is COOL!

I'm glad you guys are beginning to see the light.

Kevin,

I was reading one of your posts about how suddenly your powersupply went on you.

And kev, tell us when you get rid of that 850

Interestingly I notice that my Athlon 600 is fast enough to play most of my games at a reasonable resolution and framerate. It works great as a TV tuner. Office productivity software works great on it. Yet, strangely enough, I find myself using my AthlonXP 1700+ more than 75% of the time. Fast CPU's really are more fun to use.

Nope. It means I still agree most people don't need this power.

But for the professional graphics artist, or cad operator, more power is good!
