Hi, i have a Dell optiplex. Here are the Specs:

Dell optiplex G1 400L

Windoes ME
A09 BIOS version
Intel Pentium II CPU @ 400MHz (Slot 1)
256MB SD-RAM
Seagate 20GB HDD
Lite-On 52x24x52 Burner
2MB onboard ATI, AGP 2x VGA

I just wanted to know if anyone knew what is the fastest possible chip i can put in it? I don't have the manual but on the board it has only one set of jumpers:

PSWD, BIOS, BUS66M, 266MHz, 300MHz, 333MHz, 350MHz, 400MHz, 450MHz, 500MHz.

So i presumed that those speeds were the only supported processors, but is it true that Pentium II only went as far as 450MHz? and that some Pentium early III's were slot 1's?

I have read online that as long as you have a late BIOS version like A09 the board will support a higher chip than what it says it will. I also read that you can get slot 1 to socket 370 converters.

Thanks Daniel

If you have any info on this subject could you email at danielkitto@hotmail.com because i most likly won't check back here
