Solved Dell Inspiron CPU not working

Specs: Windows 7
My 2011 Dell Inspiron 5010 laptop quit working. It won't start and produces the 7 chirping beeps meaning the CPU mother board is not operable. I understand from several web sites including Dell's that this is a common problem for this model. Has anyone been successful getting Dell to fix the problem beyond the one year warranty?

Really, your only option is to contact Dell if it is under warranty and get it replaced. Other than that, you're kind of out of luck.

Only Dell could tell you if they are extending the warranty or issuing a recall. Have all your model and ticket numbers handy (probably under the battery).

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

Unless it's under warranty, you're SOL and need to get a new laptop.

Improper on nonexistent cleaning of air vents can cause heat build-up and lead to parts failing prematurely. Make sure to clean your air vents monthly if not weekly.

After 90 min on the phone with Dell agents, bottom line the only response they could offer was to send a box to route the computer to them for a $380 replacement of the mother board. They acknowledged that they might have made some exceptions in the past, post 1 year warranty based on a known defect in the manufacturing, but that window of opportunity had come and gone.
