118F is equal to 48C. I don't let my hdd reach 50C(isn't safe) they are plenty of soft u can use to check cpu, hdd, v-card, system temp, one of them is everest.

I like SpeedFan.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

Your board may not have temp sensors. The 1st place to look is the BIOS. See if there's a menu choice called "Hardware Monitoring" or something similar. If there is, your CPU temp should be listed there. If it is, then you have a temp sensor. If you want to montior your temps, voltages, fan speeds, etc from Windows, try HWMonitor:

It appears you have a Pentium 4, probably a Prescott. They tend to run fairly warm & were nicknamed "hot potato". The P4 has thermal protection circuitry. If the temp reaches the "trigger point", the CPU will automatically slow down as a way to lower the temp. If the temp continues to rise, the CPU will eventually shutdown completely to prevent it from frying & it won't work again until it cools. It's virtually impossible to overheat a P4 to death. Believe me, if your P4 was overheating, you'd know something was wrong because your system would slow to a crawl.
