Subject: decision making helpOS: Windows XPCPU/Ram: 1500Mhz / 768MB DDRManufacturer/Model: AMD / Sempron 2200+ |
Comment: I am looking to upgrade this piece of crap and was just wondering if there is a performance increase from the standard 754 sempron and the 64bit 754 sempron. if so would it be noticable? because i need the extra speed for gaming and dont want to pull out any extra expense if its not gonna be noticable.

Reply: (edit)There are dozens of decent S754 boards available...the GA-K8U isn't one of them. Take it back & get a board based on the nForce3 250 or 250Gb chipset. And if you're gonna get a Sempron64, the best buy is the 2800+

Reply: (edit)Skip the Sempron 64 and go with the Athlon 64 3000+ S754 Venice Core for like 120 bucks. That is the best bang for your buck. AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ 2GB Dual Channel DDR 3200 Nvidia 6800GT SATA II 250gig 7200rpm 8mb cache Gigabyte Nforce 4 SLI
