OS: Windows XP
CPU/Ram: 1500Mhz / 768MB DDR
Manufacturer/Model: AMD / Sempron 2200+
Comment:

I am looking to upgrade this piece of crap and was just wondering if there is a performance increase from the standard 754 sempron and the 64bit 754 sempron. if so would it be noticable? because i need the extra speed for gaming and dont want to pull out any extra expense if its not gonna be noticable.

What motherboard do you have and what will it take? (Unless you are planning on replacing the board too.)

There are dozens of decent S754 boards available...the GA-K8U isn't one of them. Take it back & get a board based on the nForce3 250 or 250Gb chipset. And if you're gonna get a Sempron64, the best buy is the 2800+

Skip the Sempron 64 and go with the Athlon 64 3000+ S754 Venice Core for like 120 bucks. That is the best bang for your buck.

AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+
2GB Dual Channel DDR 3200
Nvidia 6800GT
SATA II 250gig 7200rpm 8mb cache
Gigabyte Nforce 4 SLI
