Comment:

I have recently acquired an XP2100 chip. It has no signs of physical damage. When I tested it, the PC fired up (with no beeps) but nothing on the screen.
Is this CPU dead? Can it be fixed?
Any help much appreciated.

I havent. But like I said, just bought it second hand. I have Asus A7M266 MOBO. Bios version 7. I have put a XP2000 chip into it and it works fine. But the XP2100 chip doesnt. The CPU does not smell nor have any marks.
I am presuming i have bought a dead CPU?

it might be your bios then..you can try to remove the battery on your mother board.this my freind is up to you.removing the battery will clear your cmos and bios settings to there defult settings.it might work cause i had the same problem.it might not work for you but you can try it..leave the battery off for 30sec then put it back in.do this while you pc is off..repalce the battery and reboot and see what happens.you never know...

See if your motherboard needs an update.

Check manufacturer's website for bios updates.
