Hello, I currently have a soyo kt400 dragon ultra platinum edition mobo with an amd athlon xp 2000+. I have a stick of 256 MB of kingston ddr 333MHz installed. I was wondering if someone could make sure I have my clock settings correct in the BIOS for maximum performance. Here they are:

CPU Freq: 137 MHz
CPU to PCI Divider: /4
DRAM:AGP:PCI CLOCK: 171:68:34
DRAM Clock: 166 MHz
CPU Ratio: 12.5X

I'm mainly concerned with my ddr operating at its max performance (i.e., 333 MHz or higher). Are these settings correct? If anybody has any input on any other settings that would improve cpu performance or anything else, that would be great. Thanks!

As for your settings being right only you can answer that; is the system stable, are you having a heat/cooling problems, how hard do you want to push it, are you satisfied with what you already have? All questions you must answer, as for your ddr, you stated you are running ddr 333mhz and according to my math you have a data rate of about 342, meaning it is slightly o/c'd. Good job. As for max performance on your ddr What are your cas settings at? Is your 4 way bank- interleave off considering you only 1-256 stick in (4-way would be on if over 256 or multiple sticks in use). Beings it is ddr your cas will probally have best performance at 2.5 or lower.Hope this helps some.

eh. No I do not believe thats your optimal setting for from what I have learned. CPU external clock frequency such as your 2000+ at 266 should run on ram at 266 which is pc 2100. Your ram is 2700 or DDR333 and the CPU external clock is not keeping up with it. Get what I mean? So, if your talking about its optimal, I don't believe so.

By the way with good cooling chaging the CPU external clock to 166 will yield 2075 with a rating of 2700 or 2600+. You shouldn't do that I'm just telling you I've seen people do it and thats the only reason why they bought overrated RAM compared to their processor bus.

Thanks for the reply. I've got the original stock HSF on my cpu right now. What do u think the max o/c I can do without having to install another HSF or other cooling things. I currently have 3 80mm case fans and don't seem to have any problems with temp. Although, Sandra tells me that my PCI/AUX temp is at 154 F. I'm not really sure what this is or what to do about it. As for the DDR, I just upgraded to a stick of 512 DDR 333 MHz. Is there a way I can monitor the temp of it? I have a thermal heat spreader on it. I think the CAS is set at 2.5 and I think the bank interleave is off. Should I have it on??? Can I push the DDR speed any higher without killing it?? Thanks
