ok so I had this mobo with a celeron 700mhz.

Well my dads computer with a celeron 466 stoped working so I tested it in the board with the 700 to see if it was doa (and it wasen't)

Well when I put the celeron 700 back in the machine wouldent and still wont post to this day with the celeron 700 (but the 466 works fine) I even tried flashing the bios and still nothing anybody know what the problem is?

This haunts me to this very day.

Can you please explain that clearly?

I could not understand which CPU you put on which board and which worked and which did not.

Also post the motherboard model number if possible.

ok i realized that was crazy also, to shorten it up:

I put his celeron466 in the celeron 700 mobo to see if the 466 wasen't DOA and it worked so we put the celeron700 back in and the machine woulden't post. Now it only works with the 466 but the 700 was working fine in it until the 466 went in.

The mobo is very cheap no pci, agp, or isa slots and i cant find a manufactor

I have no idea why the 700 wont work in the mobo it orginally came from.

So you mean this:

1. The 700MHz was working fine on its mobo, which we will call mobo700.

2. The 466Mhz was NOT working on its mobo, which we will call mobo466.

3. Then you put the cel466 on mobo700 and the combination worked.

4. Then you put the cel700 back on mobo700 but the combination now does NOT work.

Assuming you mounted the CPU and fan properly, it sounds like
a) The mobo466 is toast.
b) The cel700 is toast.

Now I find it strange that soon after putting cel466, the cel700 must stop working. Did you have to change any jumpers of DIP switches on the board when you put the cel466. If so, just put set them the way they were when the cel700 was on it.
Seat the CPU properly on the board and try powering on again.

I suggest not putting the cel700 on the mobo466 as we suspect that the mobo466 is bad - you might end up toasting the cel700 if it already isn't.

When you say "not work" what exactly do you mean? Do you hear beeps? Or there is no sound and no display at all?

No beeps at all or video when mobo700 had the cele700 in it

But they pop the 466 in and low and behold it psots.

NO I did not have to change any jumpers or swiches to get the 466 working in mobo700

seems strange that the cel700 must suddenly die. Did you drop it do something funny with it?

Do you know any body who has a mobo on which you can put this cel700? Any socket 370 board will do. (that means any P3 or P3 motherboard)

Check your cel700 on another *working* motherboard. I see that as the only way to check the status of the cel700.

btw, can you give us the model number of the mobo700?

Well there is really no other board that I have to test it.

The only other board I have wont take cpus with the coppermine core (pentium3 later celeron)

And there is an hp cmoputer but hp says the highest the machine will take is a celeron 667 (wow to think it came with a 600 thats a whole 67mhz room for improvement!!!!!!)

I think that these mobo makers really need to make there mobos take more different kinds of cpus.

I'll try to get a model number next time I go to my dads which may be this weekend.
