Comment:

I just read a post about configuring bios for best speed with Asus A7N8X mobo and mx440 agp 8x graphics board.

I'm noob and want to speed up my system for gaming.

The bios is set at 166 mHz for CPU with the multiplier at 12x and the RAM at speed or 200 mHz.

Does that sound correct? Or is there a better configuration I can use.

Both Ram and CPU run between 35-40 degrees centigrade now.

Thanks in advance

I'm a little confused as to what you have. There is no 1.6 Barton & none of the desktop Bartons have a 12x multiplier by default. If your CPU is clocked at 12 x 166, your CPU would be at 2000mhz...so I have no idea where you're coming up with 1.6?

The socket A system works best when the CPU & RAM are at the same bus speed. Since your PC3200 RAM runs at 200mhz (400FSB), your CPU should run at 400FSB as well. I'm unsure of what CPU you have, but since it appears to be running at 2000mhz (& assuming your multiplier is unlocked), change your CPU clock settings to 10 x 200mhz
