OS: XP Home SP2
CPU/Ram: Celeron 352 3.20 GHz/1.5G
Model/Manufacturer: Presario SR1900NX
Comment:

I recently bought a new Pentium D 840 3.2GHz CPU to replace my Celeron D, but whenever I boot up the system after the initial diagnostics I get "Error: unsupported CPU installed. System will shut down" and it won't even let me enter the BIOS settings.

The motherboard is an ASUStek P5RC-LE and the only info I could find on it was at http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...
This site and HP tech support both said that the board should support Pentium D 800 series!

The BIOS is Phoenix - AwardBIOS v6.00PG and I can't seem to find any upgrades for it nor any additional info on the motherboard outside of HP, which has offered practically no useful tech support on this issue.

Does anyone know what else I can try or where else I can find more info on this issue?

I guess I wasn't really sure what to search for...The version I had was 3.03, so this should do the trick. Thanks jam!

marv234,

1. Make a new thread.
2. In that new thread, tell us what exactly you mean by my games and pc have run very crap

What games are you trying to run?
And what video card are you using?

No matter what you up your FSB to, without a good video card, you wont pull off any new games.
