Hopefully this week i will be taking delivery of my new case (antec p180) New Mobo (Gigabyte GA-8N-SLI) and new CPU (Pentium D805) and i was wondering whether i can test to see if anything is DOA with just this kit. I have a spare PSU i can use.

You'll need RAM, a video card & monitor, & a keyboard

- place the board on a non-conductive surface on your table or bench...you can use a piece of cardboard, wood, the foam pad that usually comes in the box, or the box itself

- install the CPU w/HSF, one stick of RAM, & video card.
- connect keyboard & monitor.
- connect PSU, switch it on, & jump start the board using a screwdriver to momentarily jumper the 2-pins the power switch would normally connect to...

The board should power up & you'll get a display. Use the keyboard to access the BIOS. Change any settings as necessary & check the PC Health section. If all is well and/or you make any changes, save & reboot...let the display come up again, then shutdown
