recently had computer shipped. when i set up the computer it worked ok but a little sluggish. I installed an online update of Norton 360 and after that computer would start but freeze or be super slow. I uninstalled the N360 and installed the Mcafee 2007. Computer worked ok for two days. Last night when I turned the computer on it was super slow again. I unplugged the computer and when I tried turn it on I could hear the CPU fan run, but the monitor screen stays dark with the message no rgb input and the cpu or something just beeps constantly. I looked at the cpu and the top is all melted and gooey.

Is there any pattern to the beeps? Eg. High low high low etc?
I use a Mac, still want to take my advice... LOL

As alluded to above...most motherboards are programmed with "beep codes". The beeps will have a pattern & that pattern will help you to determine the problem. But you would need to know the BIOS used by your board.
Here's the Award BIOS beep codes to give you an idea:

Just noticed that you're probably asking about a Compaq:

BTW, don't use McAfee or Norton...they're both hogs that will slow your system. Try a freebie such as Avast! or AVG Free:
