CPU Vcore Locked

My mobo is the Microstar MS-6701. The BIOS is utter crap, it wont let me change any voltages or the FSB of the board, or any RAM timings. I've managed to overclock the FSB by using a tool called CPU Cool. I can get my CPU up to 3GHZ, but it begins to get quite unstable, so i need to increase the Vcore voltage. I cant in the BIOS, so i was wondering if anyone knew of a utility to do such a thing in windows.

You can't change vcore from windows and many motherboards don't allow any adjustments beyond the default vcore of the cpu. So what you are left with is tricking the motherboard into thinking that your cpu has a higher default vcore. You can do this by wrapping pins together on the underside of the cpu, or connecting socket holes with a u-shaped 8mm-long single strand of speaker wire. I prefer the second method. Here are details.

I've been using the wire trick on three MSI Boards (MSI max Vcore is only 1.6V). It works really good, and it's easier than it sounds/looks. A different story for people with "big hands / fingers".
Connect only the two pins near the "edge", you get 0.2 volt over default. It'll be nice if you check continuity with a ohm meter prior to installation.

Summary: So I've always heard that increasing the voltage on the CPU (Vcore) decreases the lifespan of the processsor...but by how much? I mean, if I run 1.85 volts on a 2500+ will the chip just die after a f...
Summary: Alright. Here we go ago AGAIN. I posted a message on 4/30/04 about overclocking CPU via FSB, which I've successfully done. I knew that I wouldn't be able to go to high because of my SDRAM, but I wa...
