For some reason my cpu usage is always at 100%, and it has been like this for the past week. And my comp used to shut down normally when I hit shutdown...but now when I hit shutdown I have to manually hold down the shutdown button to turn it off. Both these problems started at the same time. It all started when my battery ran out on my laptop and normally it would go into hibernation, but all that happened was the screen turned black. and when i restarted the 2 above problems began. I tried running ad-aware, and virus scans and they have not fixed the problems. Can someone PLEASE HELP ME...

Shouldn't be a power-related issue. Run Spybot S&D as well as Avast! 4 (both free) and see what comes up.

Also, go into your msconfig and see if there are any weird processes in your startup menu that shouldn't be there.

Finally, go into your uninstall menu and see if any toolbars or P2P or anything installed itself there.

Hello, my cpu has recently gone up to around 70-80% at times. However, most of the time, it is very low which is good lol. I sometimes put dvd's on my computer. One time, I left like 7 on at a time, even though my laptop is 70gb. I deleted them, yet am still experiencing slow startup problems. I run adaware and anti-spyware a lot, and do not download music. I have tried everything, from disk cleanup to checking the drive for errors. I have only used up around 15 gb. Can someone please come up with a solution to fix my problem? Thank you
