Comment: Motherboard - ASUS K7MRM Old CPU - Athlon 550 mhz (came with comp) New CPU - Athlon T-Bird 900 mhz (bought off ebay used, working) HD - 30 GB Maxtor Age of comp - Almost 3 years OS - Win98 Recently I have upgraded my CPU, I installed a new bios program, and the computer worked fine for about 3 weeks. Now about 2 days ago, my computer has been running extremely slow. I have found out that everything that I do on it, even right click on the desktop, it uses most of my CPU to do it. I tried putting in the old CPU, and it didn't show anything on the screen. I don't know if it is the HD or Ram or some program that is making my computer run so slow. I don't know if i am missing anything to tell you. Thank you. Joe-

Reply: (edit)Look in your startup folder and take anything you don't need. plus make sure you don't have a buch of junk on your comp. defrag your drive!!! and restart every once in awhile. LONG LIVE LINUX!!!

Reply: (edit)What chipset is the mobo. It is either the AMD 750 Irongate or the VIA KX133. The KX 133 has problems working with thunderbirds, so that's why your chipset is important.
