I Have a #$!@45 trigem-cognac motherboard that wont read my Cpu. I upgraded my CPU from a Celeron 700/66/128 to a pentium III 800/133/256 and my motherboard/Bios says that I have a Pentium III 600EB and will only run at 598Mhz I dont know what is is doing with the FSB or L2. I thought that if I can get the right BIOS flash upgrade that it might fix it BUT I dont think I want to keep this Peice of @#$2 motherboard. I also have a computer with a AMD K6-2 3D 450Mhz and it seems to run just as fast as my 800/133/256 So I got to looking at Overclocking and I cant overclock using the cognac and I gess that its not worth it to OverClock a AMD K6-2 450Mhz CPU BUT I herd that the 700/66/128 is a good one to overclock and I have 4 motherboards that will suport the 700 but dont know if I can OverClock (Aint Got The Skills Yet) Or the Know How So I some one out there could please lend me some brain it would be OVERLY apperciated and THANK YOU
I ended up getting a Intel PIII 700/100/256 and it is working better than I thought that it would. I am still running the peice of $%# trigem-cognac that HP uses. I have both computers up and running and conected using Synergy and that makes up for the WAY outdated computers I have been able to almost boost my performance by 3x. I tried to over clock the AMD using the BMW mobo it came with. I can change the (I think its) stepping from 3.5- 4.0- 4.5- 5.0- 5.5 The jumpers are set to 100Mhz and 4.5 with the voltage at 2.4v. When I try to set it to 5.0 or 5.5 it just keeps restarting and will not load XP.
I have a BIOS upgrade for my HP Trigem-Cognac mobo and its put on a floppy as a boot disk. If you dont have a way to get one and you board is the same as mine I can mail it to you if that would help. You could also go to you local Library and use their computers to find the right upgrade and put it on a floppy there (Make shure the floppy is formated as a boot disk before you put the upgrade on it)
THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP its highly APPRECIATED
but i think i am going to stick with the settings i have and continue to save for a NEW pc
