I have an ASUS P4B533E mobo and was
wondering if I would be able to upgrade it
to > 2.2 Ghz (ie buying a new processor), since the manual indicates
that it can support '1.7 to 2.2+ GHz'. Does
that mean performance is optimal for cpu
of that speed? thanks.

Looks like you can use any CPU with a 533MHZ BUS, ei. 3.06GHZ would be about the max.
