i feel its time for a upgrade, so i was wondering if theres a faster cpu i can put on my abit mobo. I've overclocked it as much as pos. my second choice would be to start afresh with a new mobo and cpu . based on the Intel Core 2 Duo E6600. i have been looking around at compatible mobos for the intel but its confusing the hell out of me, it would have to support my agp card.

Your socket A system already ran its course. Another thing is, your AGP video card is not that great that it should compel you to not seriously think about a PCI-e platform.
But if you insist on holding on to the card - you can consider an S754 system -- they are very inexpensive to build these days. However, depending on how much you've budgeted for the upgrade, a move to the S939 or AM2 or S775 platform should be much more desirable.
There's no point 'investing' in another socket A CPU. I'm sure you could push that one higher that 2.2GHz if you wanted to. The AXP-M can safely handle a LOT more voltage than 1.575v - 2.5GHz (12.5 x 200Mhz) is certainly a possibility.
thanks for the advice,i went with jam for the time. the thermal compound needs renewing so there me be room for more. results so far. 38/40c idle 46c full load 1.725 vcore
