I replaced my cpu wit this Intel® Pentium® III 1.4GHz Socket 370 512K Cache Server CPU OEM. http://www.starmicro.net/detail.asp... When I plugged in the power cord it tried to start up. Then I turned it off and connected everything back up it never booted to a bios screen. I replaced the old cpu and it booted fine. any suggestions?
Dell is so mixed up! Looking at the details on the GX110 compatibility, I found a statement that the upgrade must be done with the A05 BIOS version. Unfortunately, my machine was running A08! Apparently, Dell and/or Intel had decided to "lock out" the Tualatin processors on the later BIOS versions (boo, hiss!). http://duhvoodooman.com/powrleap/37... downgraded the BIOS from version a08 to a05. [The trick here is to reboot using a 3.5" floppy with MS-DOS command.com on it, along with the BIOS file.

I just back flashed and my 2nd drive was seen by bios. When I replaced the cpu it reacted the same. It started up when I put the power plug in and I had to manually shut it down. I reconnected everything and the bios screen never came up when I started it.
