Hi folks,
I recently bought a used HP Pavilion to use for testing. The machine works fine with no problems. I wanted to increase the CPU to give it a bit more umf. It is currently a 466mhz celeron PGA so I bought an FC PGA adapter (powerleap neo s370) and a 733mhz FC PGA coppermine CPU. When I install this combination I hear some whirring from the box then nothing. The power LED for the adapter is on. The model can be found here:

The model number on my machine is p1352a (its a japanese box). I checked the compatibility chart for HP pavilion and NEO s370 and Im pretty sure it should be ok.

Any ideas on how I should proceed?

Possibly a jumper on the motherboard to change FSB frequencies? I should think the older Celeron ran at an FSB of 100MHz, while the newer chip more than likely has an FSB of 133MHz.
If the correct FSB has not been selected, then the symptoms you are describing will take place.

thanks FSB was 66mhz , new and old processors are both 66mhz and adapter was set for that. however, the solution was that I was testing without the cpu fan plugged in. The old CPU booted without it but the new one didn't (weird). I didn't actually need the adapter (waste of money) so i guess my board supported PPGA and FC PGA all along.
