Subject: CPU upgrade for GA-7ZX-H
OS: XP Professional
CPU/Ram: 1.4gz 256 meg ram
Comment:

I am about to increase my ram and hard disk , what is the max size CPU I can attach to the gigabyte GA-7ZX-H processor. The book say 600 to 1200 or faster, mine is 1.4. I am weighing up doing this or getting a new MOBO,CPU,DDR ram etc. The ram is PC-133 SDRAM . Please advise

If you're looking for faster speeds, definitely get a new mobo. I'm a little confused with your post though. You state you want to increase your ram and HD. then ask what size CPU you can get. Also you say the book says 600 to 1200 or faster? Most manuals I've seen only state the cpu specs. But as I said, your biggest speed bottleneck is the fact of sdram.

When all else fails beat the $%!* out of it!!!

All you had to do was go to the Gigabyte website

Your max RAM is 1.5GB (512MB per slot) & your max CPU is either an Athlon (T-bird) 1.4 or an Athlon XP (Palomino) 2000+.

IMO, it's not worth it to upgrade the CPU. RAM is debateable as well. PC133 is relatively expensive these days & you won't be able to use it on your next system because it'll almost certainly require DDR RAM
