My friend built this PC and it's had random freezing issues for the last year. Finally installed monitoring software and was shown that the CPU was running at 70 degrees celcius at idle!!!
Installed a brand new Rosewill heatsink and fan with speed control, and it dropped it to 69 degrees C. Not very good...
There is also a fan on the GPU, a side-fan on the case, and a back fan on the case, so there's fans everywhere that all function well. Power supply is 400W.
You're right...in the BIOS it said it was running at 30 degrees C.
I'm using SensorsView Pro, and it is still saying the CPU is at 69 degrees...weird. Any way to fix that? SensorsView has the option to offset the temp it's showing...is that it?
I just downloaded SensorsView Pro to see what it looked like & how it worked. Interesting program. My CPU temp was correct, but the system temp was WAY off...about 50C too high.
I checked the BIOS, then set the "correction" for SYS temp to -48C. Now it's reporting it correctly. Was that what you meant by "the option to offset the temp it's showing"?
Yea, I figured maybe it just needs adjusting by whatever degrees to offset its inaccuracies...but that doesn't seem like an optimal solution. Everyone rated SensorsView as the top monitoring software out there on downloads.com, but I'll check out SpeedFan and see what it has to say. Thanks a lot for your help!
