Hi folks, just figured out how to find my CPU temp in BIOS(thx sabretooth) and would now like to find out if its ok. Its sitting at 53C/127F while idle, but having been on most of the day. Is this ok? Is it likely to be causing me the lockups I'm getting when trying to play games?

So long, and thanks for all the fish!

That temperature at idle is on the high(ish) side of fine.

I don't think that is hot enough to be causing the errors, though I could be wrong.

Will games play for a while and then crash? or don't they run at all?

My overclocked P4 (2.1GHz) only gets up to 53C under full load and normally idles at 29C. I would think that playing games which use the FPU a lot will raise your CPU temp quite considerably. Since you have an Asus mobo, I suggest you download and install Asus Probe (free download) which will give you realtime monitoring of your CPU temp as well as other stuff like mobo temp and fan speeds.

Hi,

My games are booting up but then locking the PC fairly quickly and i have to hard reboot it. They even lock on the menu's without the games even doing much.

I'll try that ASUS probe thing. Thx.
