The question is this:

Everyone knows that when increasing the Vcore voltage due to overclocking, you create higher CPU temps.

When you don't have to increase the Vcore voltage, but you can increase the CPU multiplier, or the FSB speed, which one creates the most heat? Multipler or Bus?

YO

I'm going to have to go with the Multipler

Changing the bus speed in many cases implies overclocking other parts in your AGP, PCI slots, and your RAM as well as the CPU. I am going with the bus here.

That's a tough one. Here's my theory:

Let's say you have a 2.0GHz CPU that is supposed to run at 10 x 200MHz. If you increase the multiplier by 1, you gain 200MHz, but it's strictly a CPU gain...the rest of the system is unchanged.

To get an equal increase via the FSB, you'd need to increase to 220MHz. Depending on what BIOS settings are available & how you have them configured, you'd be increasing the speed of the chipset, RAM, PCI, AGP, etc. That would throw more heat into the case, & reduce the cooling ability of the HSF, so the CPU temp would be higher.

However, if your question is strictly about the CPU & not taking any other factors into account, I don't think there'd be a difference. 2200MHz (10 x 220MHz) or 2200MHz (11 x 200MHz), is still 2200MHz.

It's like Jam said, "That's a tough one."

Here's a hint. It's all based upon current draw. So which draws the most current? FSB or Multiplier?

YO

I'm going with the FSB now because everything goes up when you overclock the fsb.

That is my final answer.
