The temp of my CPU is seems to hot after I have just re-applied thermal compound. I am using Arctic Silver 5 as my compound and I followed their directions to the T. I have my case fans configured in a way to get the most air flow in the system. I have a side fan pumping air in and one fan on the back pulling air in. There are two fans on the inside attatched to the power supply pulling exhaust air out and it is being pumped out the back of the power supply. Right now I have a Glacial Tech Silent Breeze 462 as my CPU cooling unit. If you have any suggestions to get my heat down please let me know. If you need more information to go on to help me out also let me know. Thank you.

Sorry, I forgot to mention my temps are 56C idle and 60C at load.

Well as you said you followed it to a T you must know too much AS5 can cause high temps...

Can always try making the wires neater as they can badly restrict air flow.

Followed them to a T?

- OK, so you made sure not to touch anything with your fingers so that the surfaces weren't contaminated by fingerprints? If you did touch the heatsink or CPU core, did you clean them with acetone or 100% alcohol before applying the AS5?

- You only used a tiny amount of AS5 on the CPU core...about the size of a BB (or less) & spread it as thinly & evenly as possible?

- You applied a tiny amount of AC5 to the bottom of the heatsink, then worked it in using your finger inserted in a plastic baggie? Then wiped off the excess with a lint free cloth?

Are you certain your temps are being reported accurately?

That is a weak cooler.

The biggest problem people have with grease is mucking up the paste smoothness when you install the cooler.

In addition the responses above, reverse the fan you have @ the back, and make it an exhaust fan instead of intake.

Were your temps lower before you reapplied the AS5? Did you use AS5 before or something else? Did you completely remove the old stuff? Clean everything before you applied the AS5? Install the heatsink pointing in the correct direction?

What are case and cpu temps before and after? Looking for any differences here that will allow us to point you in the right direction.

We can work on the case fan configuration later but you do need to exhaust air in the back or top.
