Comment: Hi Folks, I just want to share with you guys an experiment that I did with airflow and CPU temps. Most cases has fans in the front and in the back. I see only 1 or 2 case type that has a fan on the side. Pre-alteration, my board temp is runing at 31C and cpu is 35C. At 100% load board temp is 41C and cpu hovers at 50C. This is pretty good but I decided to improve it. I took out the side of the case that usually removable. Wedge out a hole that's almost as large as the case fan and mounted a case fan on it. The location is smack in the center of the case. What I have noticed is that this set up decreases my temp by about 10C on cpu. Post-alteration on idle, Board temp is sitting one or 2 degrees above ambient which is 25C and cpu is 28C. On 100% load for 7 hours, board temp 31C and CPU is maxed out at 41C. These numbers are taken off of Motherboard Monitor, version5. FYI - I use a drill to drill out the perimiter of the hole. Man these metal cases are hard! -Running cool.
