Ok, this is just bugging me. First, my Bios ALWAYS says my cpu is 850Mhz no matter if I'm using just battery power or the AC adapter. Now, when only on the fresh battery the System Infomation reads it at 700Mhz (so does Belarc Profiler). If I plug in may adapter it still says 700Mhz BUT rebooting it with the adapter it goes back to saying it 850Mhz. I believe the Bios but it still driving me crazy. Why does this happen? I really hate these little mysteries.

Are you familiar with Intel's SpeedStep technology?

If you are not, I suggest you read up on it.

Thanks, I didn't know about SpeedStep technology. I did read up on it and now it all makes sense.

If you want your laptop to run at full 850Mhz speed. Simply go to desktop -> properties -> screen saver -> power -> change to "always on" in power management... Now in your system information should read as 850Mhz...
