Comment:

I got a Pentium 4 3.06GHz Prescott CPU (SL7NA) that was told would work on my laptop despite the BIOS complaining about microcode errors.

Now true, the BIOS complained, but the laptop did function, and appears to be working VERY snappy.

However, CPUz produced odd results, showing a 14x multiplier that would seem to indicate the slower speed of speedstep, but the bus speed is faster than the CPU normally runs, and CPU speed is full throttle as it is reported on the chip.

Ok, here's something interesting.

The CPU is performing as it should, for a Prescott. It is running at 3GHz, but, the FSB is supposed to be only 533MHz, not 880MHz, and the multiplier should be far higher than 14x.

But, it's "working". It should be safe, right?

Also interesting is that my RAM is PC2700, and not complaining either. So it would seem my RAM got overclocked.

The BIOS has no options as it's a Dell Inspiron 1150, and am surprised the BIOS opted to overclock the FSB.
